50 Years of Artists Prints

I was delighted to attend a Private View at the Bankside Gallery last night where they are hosting a wonderful exhibition entitled '50 Years of Artist's Prints' organised by the Printmaking Council.  It is an amazing collection of amazing work and the exhibition runs until 29th November.

Alongside larger works there is a delightful variety of mini-prints which are to be added to the V&A archives.

As if that isn't enough to whet your appetite the PMC have also produced a book featuring the work of its 124 members 'Making an Impression'.  It is available at the Bankside Gallery and also online here

The Bankside Gallery is open daily from 11 - 6

Artist-in-Focus 15th-28th June

A sneak preview of some of Susan Short's exquisite images!

Susan will be our Artist-in-Focus at the gallery from 15th June to 28th which means (lucky for some!) more of her work will be on display than usual and all of it will be available to buy.

Brick Lane

Looking Up - City of London

Fireworks over the Thames

Susan tells us 'Printmaking enables me to bring together different elements and expressions in response to my surroundings. As an artist interested in my environment, and working in London I realized how controlled we are in where we move and what we see in the city. My work explores my surroundings of buildings and landscape.'

Drawings, notes and photographs are made on site and then extensively developed in the studio.

Susan is also exhibiting at The Society of Graphic Fine Art exhibition, 'Drawn Together' at  Bankside Gallery 30 June- 5 July.  48 Hopton St, London SE1 9JH. Open daily 11am- 6pm.  Admission free.  PV 30th June 6-9pm.
'Brick Lane' (top) will be on show.  Also 'Fireworks over the Thames' (above) which will be available unframed.
