London Design Festival comes to Gabriel's Wharf

This is an exciting time for our gallery!

The Southbank Printmakers' participation in the London Design Festival will be marked by our Louise Hayward who will be demonstrating how she achieves her archetypal images.  Louise is a member of the Society of Wood Engravers (SWE) and a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE).  Her work is held at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and in many private collections.

She uses engraving and lino-cutting tools on relief surfaces including plastic plates, wood and lino. 

Look at what she achieves!  

The detail is incredible  and very satisfying.

I don't want to distract you from our gallery but to be fair I will share that Gabriel's Wharf will be buzzing this weekend.  However I will also share that we are open (Mon to Fri and Sunday: 11.30 to 6.30pm) but on 

 

you can come in anytime between 10am to 8pm and we hope you will come by and browse our great selection of handmade prints from 40 printmakers and admire Louise's considerable prowess.

SBP welcomes three new members!

It is our great pleasure to welcome Rebecca Denton, Libby Jones and Liz Whiteman Smith to Southbank Printmakers.  Their work can already be seen in the Gallery but here's a taster!

Rebecca's quirky images are evolved entirely in her imagination hence their originality.  She has been known to work from her own photos but they are entirely reinterpreted as in the New York image below.

Libby Jones enthrals us with her Arctic scenes.  Never has there been a better time to document these freezing wastes as they start to melt.

Liz Whiteman Smith's work include a delightful series of images from 'Alice in Wonderland' where each character is allocated a ranking from a deck of cards, attributing them to Hearts or Diamonds depending on whether they are inside or outside the Queen of Hearts’ court.

A refreshing and exciting addition to the 100's of prints you can browse and buy........
