From this Sunday you can see her relief and intaglio prints at our gallery until 1st June.
Laura's work provides a vibrant escapism into an imaginary world populated by trees, foxes, birds, domestic pets - the flora & fauna of a 1920’s garden suburb. It features sequence and pattern and refers back to years working in animation as a producer and now University Lecturer in Animation. Repeating themes and motifs echo the influence of cherished childhood toys and the block printed wallpaper's ample books, which she admired in the late 1960’s as a small child in her father’s painting & decorating shop.

In 2012 she was awarded the Artichoke Studio Prize - 8th British International Mini Print for “Seven Birds”
Laura was first inspired to try
printmaking by Don Bessant & Jim Chappin during a Fine Art Degree at
Wolverhampton Polytechnic in 1984-1987.
Days spent in their buzzing print
room proved the perfect contrast to the
solitude of animation, her first subject.
After a career in animation she began printmaking again in 2009 on her
kitchen table using water based inks. She now prints at home, and at the Bluecoat Print Studio & Artichoke, Brixton.
